I am in love with Slovenia! It was enough to spend 3 days in Ljubljana and some smaller near places to make me want to live there. I will share with you my emotions towards the capital city of Slovenia and some very interesting things. Also, the photos I insert are from my trip there (it was end of December start of January). Come with me on a quick journey. π
But first to introduce you to the country. Slovenia is a small country bordered by Croatia, Hungary, Austria, and Italy. It has a tiny but beautiful coastline along the Adriatic Sea.

The position of Slovenia is perfect as you’ve got the seaside, Alpine peaks, rolling hills, and sparkling rivers and lakes. There are locals who joke that in May you can ski on the snowy peaks the morning swimming in the sea in the afternoon. π
The city lies in central Slovenia in a natural depression surrounded by high peaks of the Julian Alps. It is located on the Ljubljanica River.

Ljubljana is dominated by a medieval fortress, which dates from the 12th century. The old quarter of the city lies between the fortress and the river.

Except for fortress, the very popular attraction is Tivoli Park, which was built in the 19th century and which underwent significant alterations in the 1920s and ’30s.

An unfortunately strong earthquake in 1895. demolished most of the old buildings in the Austrian Baroque style. The subsequent rebuilding of the city, particularly those buildings designed by the Art Nouveau architect Josef PleΔnik, gave a modern appearance. Fine stone bridges, such as the Tromostovje (Triple Bridge), were constructed across the river also.
Ljubljana is an important center of rail and road communications with Austria, Croatia, Hungary, and Italy. Its have strong and famous pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, food processing, and electronics industries.

- The Ljubljana’s dragon is the symbol of the city and you’ll find dragons on Dragon Bridge and on the coat of arms in the castle. It represents power, courage, and greatness. π

- Nearly everyone know to speaks English in Ljubljana!
- There’s fog every morning, an, but then until about noon it cleared out and become beautiful sunny. So when you see a foggy day you should actually be happy! if the day starts with rain, big chances are it will also end with rain.

- Guys are incredibly good looking. So are girls, but uh, there are so many handsome men in one place, and they’re also gentlemen! Could it be better? π
- People in Ljubljana go to bed early and wake up early, which might explain the overall healthy-looking people there.
- Sooo many people practicing sports everywhere around Ljubljana while the fast-food chains were literally empty! One more reason for good looking people there.
- Ljubljana is very safe. Walking around the city at 4 a.m. without worry about nothing is totally normal. There are no stray dogs also!
- Ljubljana is so clean city! Everywhere you can see clean streets, parks, building. Also, recycling is like a “national sport” - nearly every garbage bin is separated into 3 sections: paper, plastic and general garbage. Everyone cares about the environment. π
- FREE rides around Ljubljana in an electric car “Kavalirs”. Primarily used for taking travelers, locals, elderly, lazy, etc. π
- Cat CafΓ© Ljubljana is a real cafe and it has an entire cat park built into the wall with parts of the course exiting through the wall to the outside of the building and back in. So if you want to enjoy sipping your coffee or tea next to a furry friend go and find this special place for cat lovers. πΈπ»
