Poinsettias are the most popular plants in the world for Christmas. And the other name of this plant is Christmas Star. Also the other name of Poinsettia is Ataturk Flower (In Turkey). Because this plant entered the country thanks to Mustafa Kemal Ataturk (The founder of the Republic of Turkey).
So today I wanna share some tips how to care Poinsettias with you.
Requirements
Temperature: It needs 15-20 degrees before flowering period, 13-16 degrees during flowering and 10-12 degrees after flowering period. The Poinsettia should not fall below 13 degrees when flowering.
Humidity: Requires high humidity. (About 70% - 75%)
Lighting: In summer it likes bright semi-shade places. Requires intense light from September to color the leaves. And it should be kept in very bright places during the flowering period in winter. Also the Poinsettias should be protected from direct sunlight.

Care
Flower Pot Replacement: It should be changed every year in April.
Fertilization: Between June and October 1-2 g/l compound fertilizer is given once a week.
Irrigation: It should be watered with warm water from June to September and water should be sprayed on its leaves in hot weather. But the amount of water given during flowering (December-January) should be reduced. When flowering, if the plant is given too much water, the leaves fall out. From the rest of January until the middle of April, either little water should be given or the soil should be kept completely.
Pruning: Old plants should be cut to remain 10-15 cm from the soil in April after the end of flowering.
Pests: Red Spider and Lice
